Sir We Have an Orc Problem Bonus Resources
How end-of-battle payout nodes work after the June demo surrender change.
What Bonus Resources does
Bonus Resources is an economy-side meta node that adds currency when a level ends. It sits beside percentage income upgrades and tower caps on the persistent tree. Players buy it to accelerate farm loops between hard maps in Sir, We Have an Orc Problem, especially once enemy counts climb and retries become normal. Pair this page with Economy Upgrades, Economy and Meta, and Upgrade Priority.
Think of Bonus Resources as a multiplier on your willingness to finish battles. Every other income node assumes you see an end screen; this family of nodes makes that assumption explicit after the June demo patch. If you treat the upgrade tree like a spreadsheet, Bonus Resources is the cell that breaks when you cancel mid-wave.
The June 4 surrender rule (critical)
Demo Update 2026.06.04.12.00 changed farm etiquette overnight:
- The flat Bonus Resources payout no longer applies when you surrender.
- You must finish the level - survive/win or lose naturally - to receive that flat bonus.
- Scaling Bonus Resources 2 payouts still apply when surrendering.
If your wallet feels poorer after buying the flat node, you are probably quitting early. Leave the defeat timer alone until the battle result screen populates kills, payouts, and Damage Statistics. Full note context lives on Patch Notes under the Updates hub.
This rule exists so players cannot skim flat bonuses by aborting the moment a leak appears. Natural losses still count as finished runs. The design wants you to watch how the wave collapsed - useful when you are learning choke rebuilds on Level 5 or later maps.
When to buy flat Bonus Resources
Buy it when you already:
- Survive long enough to reach the end screen consistently on your farm map.
- Own at least one generic income percentage node so base payouts are not tiny.
- Plan multi-attempt sessions on the same level (for example pushing Level 5 or mid-campaign speed maps).
- Can resist rage-surrender when three orcs leak in the final third of a wave.
Skip it while you still quit mid-wave; the node cannot pay if you never see the results screen. In that phase, spend on Gunner caps, Flamethrower unlocks, Mortar splash, or straightforward income percentages instead. Revisit Bonus Resources after two honest farm sessions where you always click through to the summary.
Session design with the flat node
A clean Bonus Resources session looks like this:
- Pick a farm map with a visible enemy count on level select.
- Scout once, rebuild the kill zone, then run intentional losses or pushes.
- After every battle - win or lose - open the upgrade tree and spend.
- Never surrender solely to skip the walk of shame; the flat bonus dies with that click.
If you need a bathroom break mid-wave, pause instead of surrendering. Pause keeps the attempt alive; surrender flags the flat bonus as forfeit.
Bonus Resources 2 and scaling
Scaling bonus nodes remain attractive for impatient farmers because surrender still grants them. Use them when you want partial credit for aborted attempts without abandoning the flat node entirely. Many players own both: flat Bonus Resources for finished farms, Bonus Resources 2 for the rare emergency quit.
Read tooltips for totals - June 12 patches made upgrade tooltips show total values, which reduces guesswork when comparing a scaling payout to another economy percentage. If the tooltip math still confuses you, unlock Damage Statistics and run one instrumented battle so you see how end-of-battle currency actually arrived.
Synergy with clean wins
Clean clears (no leaks) often grant separate bonus currency on top of Bonus Resources. Once flat Bonus Resources is online, alternating farm losses and clean pushes maximises income across an evening. Do not surrender a nearly clean run just to reset faster - the flat bonus and clean-win bonus both want a finished battle.
A practical rhythm on tough maps: two finished farm losses to buy a combat spike, one push for a clean clear, then reassess with the Upgrade Planner. That rhythm respects the June rule while still feeling incremental.
Interaction with orc speed and enemy counts
Because orc move speed increases per level, farm maps that used to end quickly can drag once velocity climbs. Flat Bonus Resources pays you for sitting through that longer endgame. Enemy counts on level select help you pick farms dense enough to justify the time - a low-count map with a flat bonus node is worse than a dense map without it.
Combine this awareness with Tips and Tricks so you are not AFK-farming empty berms while waiting for a payout that barely moves the tree.
Common mistakes
- Buying flat Bonus Resources then surrendering every fail
- Ignoring Damage Statistics while blaming the node for low income
- Stacking payout nodes while tower caps remain at starter counts
- Farming a map whose enemy count is too low to justify the time
- Quitting a leak-free run one ability cooldown early and forfeiting both flat and clean bonuses
Fix the first mistake immediately; fix the others with Tips and Tricks, Combat Upgrades, and the Upgrade Planner.
Priority relative to combat nodes
Bonus Resources funds combat - it is not a substitute for penetration or flame coverage. On maps where you already finish every attempt, payout nodes outscale another +0.1 Gunner damage. On maps you cannot finish, buy survivability and DPS first so the Bonus Resources condition can trigger.
Headhunter and Power Shot do not replace income; they spend income. Keep flat Bonus Resources in the economy column of your mental budget, then route surplus into combat using Upgrade Priority.
Demo veterans checklist
If you learned farming during early playtest or pre-June demos, unlearn surrender-for-flat-bonus muscle memory. Read Demo vs Full Game and the Updates hub, then run one conscious farm where you watch the result screen every time. That single habit recovers more currency than another tiny Gunner node.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Does surrender ever pay Bonus Resources?
Flat Bonus Resources needs a finished run. Bonus Resources 2 scaling can still pay on surrender per the June 4 demo note.
Should beginners buy it first?
No. Unlock Gunners and a basic income percentage first. Buy flat Bonus Resources once you reliably reach the end screen.
Why is my income lower after the patch?
If you surrender early, you lost the flat bonus. Finish losses on the result screen or invest in Bonus Resources 2 instead.
Is pause the same as surrender?
No. Pause keeps the attempt active. Surrender ends it early and forfeits the flat Bonus Resources payout.
